In recent years considerable development has occurred on Cape York. However, infrastructure and services still remain thinly spread throughout the region.

CYPDA continues to promote the development of appropriate basic structural

Environmental Protection Agency
The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), which includes the Queensland Parks and Wildlife Service (QPWS), is a department of the Queensland Government. Cape York Peninsula Land Use Strategy
The Cape York Peninsula Land Use Strategy (CYPLUS) was a joint initiative between the Australian and Queensland Governments.

Stage 1 involved data collection, issues identification and analysis of opportunities and constraints.
Stage 2 involved the development of a coordinated strategy for sustainable land use and economic and social development.
Stage 3 consisted of implementation and evaluation.
