Each community in Cape York Peninsula has a state school, Bamaga school in northern Cape York Peninsula caters for children from the Bamaga and Seisia communities as well as from Umagico, Injinoo and New Mapoon

Cairns School of Distance Education is a Queensland State School offering co-educational services to home based learners from Pre-school to Year 11 and Year 12 over a catchment area that stretches north from Cairns to the Torres Strait, west to Normanton and Karumba and south to Cardwell and Oak Park, including all of Cape York Peninsula
